Sometimes the cards just "fall into place" splendidly! Caleb's Aunt Lynn has talked about the South Walton or "30A Area" of Florida since I met her (and she's gone with her family for years and years before that!). We almost stopped to visit this past winter on a road trip, but we ended up being too tired and not making it as far as we'd hoped. I've spent many a nursing session hunting down Alys Beach instagram accounts or trying to find as many travel blog posts about the area... it seems a little too good to be true and I wanted the juicy details about it! (And then see for myself at some point!)
Then! Caleb's parents were given a family vacation as a gift from friends are church... which was just ridiculously generous and thoughtful. Where were the Morris' headed? To Miramar Beach, right off 30A and the "beginning" of the South Walton strip! I was thrilled all-around! For them! For the location! For us! Hahaha They invited us to come if we could, and there was no way we could say no (especially after I'd already announced "We'll meet you there!" Ha!)
We had two days of hot summer sun, bike rides, Mexican food, cold drinks, sight-analyzing, catching up, growling (right Merc? ;) haha), chasing babies, dance parties, coffee, and little towns that STILL feel too good to be true! Every nook and cranny and alley and entrance and patio was flawless. Lap of luxury for suuuure. But not so gaudy or "far off" that you felt like you couldn't relate and enjoy it. A charming, sweet kind of extravagant wealthy area! Ha!
I'm so grateful for each Morris relative... they're quite a family. They're all so in-tune with our kids, patient, quick to laugh, quick to play a game or make up "something fun" to do. Terry loves to grab the kids right when we wake up so Caleb and I can keep sleeping, and so he doesn't have to share their attention. Summer went out with him and snuggled for 20 minutes! She was giving Jeremiah the side-eye at the beginning of our visit but by the end he had absolutely won her over and she was curling her hands, batting her eyelashes, and chasing him around! Rowdy cries when we have to leave "his friend, Merc" and talks all about the funny things Hosie did. He also told me has abs like Siah soooo ;) Cindy kept us all fed, hydrated, on time, loved on, and giggling with her epic one-liners. We shared a couple pool-side and beach-front lime-a-ritas which is tops in my book. Caleb spent most of the beach days out in the warm water trying to learn from his siblings how to catch the best wave and they did boogie-board races for hours! (Hosie had a giant comeback from the boys... Caleb had three wins, Siah had five wins, she had ZERO wins, and they were playing to six. And she won!! Hahah Get it girl!)
Thank you for letting us come, loving us, and making memories! Here's to many more! (Fonville Press, anyone??)
